Our Mission

For the 2010 Veterans Stand Down at Veterans Memorial, we will be honoring the national mission of Stand Downs as defined by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

"Stand Downs are typically one to three day events providing services to homeless Veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment. Stand Downs are collaborative events, coordinated between local VAs, other government agencies, and community agencies who serve the homeless."

Guests will have to show their veteran credentials in order to access the services being offered at Stand Down. Click HERE for Replacement ID Instructions.

We are creating an opportunity to serve homeless Veterans that best use existing community services and secure our use of funding from veteran focused organizations (i.e. VA, VOA, etc.). We will not be providing services to non veterans or individuals without credentials. Prior to the Stand Down, we will work with local agencies to help veterans obtain credentials.

Our intent is not to dissuade any community service providers from meeting the needs of individuals in our community. And in align with our mission, we invite community service providers to offer needed services to our homeless veterans.
